What is the Social Fund for Development?

The Social Fund for Development aims at supporting innovative micro-projects implemented by civil society organizations (Community-based Organisations, Non-Governmental Organisations, cooperatives…etc) or local public entity with a view to enhancing agricultural production, generating incomes for the poorest and improving access to basic services in South Sudan. Since 2005 and the signature of the Comprehensive Peace Agreement, over 2.5 million Euros (9 million SSP) have been allocated to support 30 development projects implemented by Southern Sudanese civil society actors through Social Funds for Development across South Sudan.

The first phase of the call for proposals is open until Sunday March 3rd, at 12.00 pm.

What is the Social Fund for Development?

Who can apply and which type of project is eligible for funding?

The selection committee will only consider projects that comply with the eligibility criteria as set out in the Guidelines. Please read it very carefully before sending your concept note. You can download the guidelines below.

How to apply?

The selection process is a two-step process.

As a first step, please send by e-mail or hand-delivery, a short concept note using the template provided, to introduce your organisation, describe the local situation, explain the objectives, the planned activities and the expected results of your project.
You can download the template to be used and an indicative template for the budget below. Please note that the selection committee will only consider concept notes that are using the template.

The concept note must not exceed 5 pages. A global estimated budget must be attached to the concept note.

Emails are to be sent to the programme officer of the Social Fund for Development at this e-mail address, by Sunday, March 3rd at 12.00 pm: laetitia.tremel@diplomatie.gouv.fr. Please write “Social Fund for Development 2013 - Name of your organisation” in the subject line (example: Social Fund for Development 2013 – Youth Development Association). An acknowledgement of receipt will confirm reception of your e-mail.

Concept note sent after Sunday, March 3rd at 12.00 pm will not be considered.

Important notice : Due to the e-mail box capacity, e-mails above 3Mo will not be received by the programme officer.

At a second stage, you will be informed by e-mail of the outcome of your application; only if you are preselected will you be asked to send supporting documents and a full application form.

Grants to selected applicants should not be expected until May 2013.
