French Summer Music Fest: First edition in South Sudan
Each year on June 21st, the summer solstice for Northern hemisphere, the French gather in the streets to celebrate the change of seasons with la Fête de la musique — a dynamic & vibrant tapestry of music and dancing to the sound of both amateur and professional musicians.
For this very first edition in South Sudan, the French Institute in Juba recaptured this lively atmosphere in the gardens of its cultural center. 8 bands performed, creating a spectrum of local artistic: talent traditional music, French songs and new creations by young and talented artists.
From 6 pm to 10 pm, more than 500 persons joined us to enjoy the gift of music.
The event ended on a peace message with the song “I am a South Sudanese” by the brilliant Mer Ayong.
Most of the bands which performed at IF have been contacted after the music fest evening to perform in Juba; if you want to know more about it, please feel free to contact us on Facebook: institute français Juba.
