New contribution to a project in food security.
On April 1st, 2015, Mr Christian Bader, the French Ambassador in South Sudan, and Mr Hassan El Sayed, Head of Emergency Response Department of the NGO Première Urgence – Aide Médicale Internationale (PU-AMI), signed a grant agreement for a project on food security to be implemented in Aweil North County (Northern Bahr El Ghazal).
The project will last seven months. It aims at reducing food insecurity in Aweil North. 2000 people will benefit from this integrated programme in health and food security (the NGO is already managing a hospital in Pamat).
With a grant of 200.000 Euros, the French government’s contribution to this project demonstrates France’s support for food security in South Sudan. In a country affected by chronic food insecurity, reinforcing people’s capacity to rapidly recover from shocks is paramount to finding a way out of spiralling humanitarian crises.
